Subway robber uses wine bottle to force victim to give up wallet and cash

NEW YORK, NY – Police in Queens reported an armed robber used a wine bottle as his choice of weapon aboard a train near the Myrtle Avenue subway station last week.

Police released photos of the suspect on Wednesday and are asking the public to identify him.

According to detectives with the 83rd Precinct, on Wednesday, February 15, at 6 pm, the victim, a 39-year-old male, was aboard a southbound “J” train approaching the Myrtle Avenue subway station at the time of the robbery.

“An unidentified male individual raised a wine bottle to the victim and demanded his wallet,” the NYPD said in a statement. “The victim complied, and the male removed approximately $190.”

The suspect fled the station. The victim was not injured.
