SILVER SPRING, MD – Police identified 19-year-old Justice Elliott as the victim in a deadly shooting aboard a Metro bus in Silver Spring on Friday.
According to detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police, at approximately 7:40 p.m., 3rd District officers on patrol in the Vista at White Oak apartments witnessed a WMATA Metro Bus pulled over on Lockwood Drive.
Curious, the officers stopped to assist and discovered that a shooting had occurred inside the bus moments prior.
“The victim had been removed from the bus when officers arrived, and the officers attempted life-saving-measures until Montgomery County Fire Rescue arrived,” the Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement. “Justice T’Ziyan Elliott was pronounced dead on the scene.”
Police learned Elliot was seated in the back of the bus when an unknown suspect boarded the bus and began arguing with Elliott.
“Words were exchanged; the suspect pulled out a handgun, shot Elliott, and ran from the bus,” police reported.
The gunman was described as a black male, thin build, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, wearing all-black clothing and a black face mask.
