JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is investigating a fire at a Jersey City rowhouse on 10 Street that occurred on Sunday.

According to police, at around noon, the Jersey City Fire Department received reports of smoke at 309 10th Street.

When police arrived, they were met by responding members of the JCFD and confirmed the fire in a single-family residence at that location.

“Upon entry, the first responders found an unresponsive male victim of the fire. The fire was contained to that residence by the JCFD,” the Jersey city Police Department reported.

The 50-year-old male victim was treated at the scene and taken to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services. He was later transferred to the Burn Unit at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for further treatment.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said the man is currently in stable, but critical condition.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force has determined that the fire does not appear suspicious at this time, however, the Origin and Cause of the fire remain under investigation.
