Manhattan newsstand worker assaulted and robbed

NEW YORK, NY – A newsstand worker at 1033 Avenue of the Americas, between Times Square and Bryant Square, was attacked and robbed recently. On Sunday, the NYPD’s Midtown South Precinct released photos of the suspects wanted for that assault and robbery.

According to police, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at approximately 7:30 pm, multiple unidentified male suspects approached a 37-year-old male victim who was working inside of a newsstand in front of 1033 Avenue of the Americas.

“The male individuals threw grapes at the victim and then punched him in the face while removing his cellphone,” the NYPD said today.

The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries by FDNY EMS.
