John Bartzak, Jr., grandson of retired New Jersey State Police Lt. Joseph Bartzak #1357, spontaneously snapped to attention and saluted fallen Trooper Phil Lamonaco after being told the tragic story that this memorial represents.
John and his family were on their way to a ski trip when they stopped at the memorial on Interstate 80 to pay their respects to Trooper Lamonaco and wish him a Happy New Year.
We want to thank the Bartzak family for allowing us to share this touching moment with all of you.
We will never forget.
