Carjacking reported in Greenbelt after an unsuccessful earlier attempt

GREENBELT CITY, MD – The Greenbelt City Police Department is investigating an armed carjacking a took place shortly after an unsuccessful carjacking attempt nearby.

According to police, at around 12:06 a.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery. Officers reported that the victim was approached by two black men wearing all-black clothing and black face masks. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the victim’s car keys.

The suspects were able to take the victim’s personal property but were unsuccessful in carrying out their attempted carjacking as the victim drove away and the suspects fled on foot.

About 15 minutes later, the Greenbelt Police Department received another call for the report of an armed carjacking nearby.

In that incident, the victim reported two black males approached the car with the same description as a previous incident and, this time, were able to flee with the victim’s Honda Fit.

After the previous incident, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim, but this time caused injury to the victim in order to take their vehicle. The victim in the second incident was treated for minor injuries.

The suspects fled the scene. Police are still searching for the suspects and asking anyone with any information to contact them.
