Suffolk County police take two more guns off the street

West Babylon, New York- the Suffolk County Police Department has announced the arrest of two men and the seizure of two guns, which have been taken from the streets this week.

“First Precinct Anti-Crime officers pulled over a vehicle in West Babylon on August 25 for failure to signal and having an obstructed view and while speaking with the occupants, the officers observed the handle of a gun sticking out of a bag on the floor of the front passenger side of the vehicle,” police said. “The gun, a Taurus semi-automatic handgun, was recovered and the driver, a man from Brooklyn, was arrested on multiple weapons charges.”

According to police, two days later, Sixth Precinct Anti-Crime officers arrested a Mastic man following a traffic stop in Selden. During the stop, the driver exited the vehicle, revealing a handgun on the side of the driver’s seat.

“The man fled on foot into a yard, where he threw a bag of crack cocaine over a fence, and resisted arrest as he was apprehended. The gun, a Taurus semi-automatic handgun, along with the bag of cocaine, as well as drugs and various drug paraphernalia found in the vehicle, were recovered, and the driver was arrested on multiple weapon and drug charges and Resisting Arrest,” police reported.
