Newark Police Searching for Fugitive Wanted for North End Avenue Shooting

NEWARK, NJ – Newark police are asking the public to help them find Seth Muhammad, 33, who is wanted for a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, July 27th.

Police reported that at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers responded to West End Avenue near Pine Grove Terrace following a Shot Spotter notification.

“Responding officers recovered 10 spent shell casings in the area and observed property damage due to gunfire. Police also received a report that a man who had been shot arrived at University Hospital for treatment. The victim was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is reportedly in stable condition,” the Newark Police Department said in a statement today. “Detectives investigating this incident identified Muhammed as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault and certain persons prohibited from firearm possession.”

He is described as 5’7” tall and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
