SOUTH RIVER, NJ – The South River Police Department has issued the following police blotter incident reports regarding activity in the community that warranted police response.

“Our weekly police blotter highlights noteworthy incidents that occur on a day to day basis in order to keep our community informed. Please keep in mind that, in the case of any ongoing investigation, we are not able to release certain details and information,” the department said.

VEHICLE FIRE, Old Bridge Turnpike on 7/26 @ 1422 hours – Patrol units and South River Fire Department responded to a report of a car fire in the parking lot of a business. The fire was subsequently extinguished. Another vehicle and private property also sustained damage due to the fire.

GAS LEAK, Ferris Street on 7/27 @ 0833 hours – Patrol units and South River Fire Department responded to a gas line struck by a work crew. The leak was secured by PSE&G and the scene was turned over to them for repairs.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, Prospect Street on 7/27 @ 1919 hours – Patrol units and EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident in which a utility pole was struck. One individual was treated for minor injuries.

BRUSH FIRE, Main Street on 7/27 @ 2334 hours – Patrol units and South River Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the parking lot of a business. The fire was subsequently extinguished.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, Main Street on 7/29 @ 2136 hours – Patrol units and EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident in which three parked vehicles were struck. One individual was treated for minor injuries.

BURGLARY & THEFT / MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT, Jackson Street on 7/30 @ 1007 – A report was taken for a burglary and theft from a business. A vehicle was also stolen from the parking lot of the business.
