ORTLEY BEACH, NJ – The once quiet beachfront community of Ortley Beach is starting to become one of the Jersey Shore’s more notorious beaches for alleged teen mayhem in 2022. The Township of Toms River recently passed a teen curfew due to unruly, and drunken behavior been teenagers during Memorial Day weekend, but it seems to be having little effect.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department reported two police officers were assaulted during a ‘large scale incident’ of teens at the beach was broken up. A social media post by the Sheriff’s 911 Face
The incident happened Sunday night near 4th Avenue and ‘involved hundreds of out-of-control teens’ near Barnacle Bill’s Amusements, an arcade, and a miniature golf center.
The Toms River Police Department has not yet released any information regarding the incident.
