Student Expelled for Rest of School Year After Video of Gun Makes its Rounds at Parkside High School

SALISBURY, MD – A video that went viral throughout the community of Salisbury has led to the expulsion of one student for the rest of the school year, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department said today.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, a school resource officer had a video brought to his attention that was being shared amongst students at Parkside High School.

“The video was of an individual who was reportedly a student at that school. In the video, this individual is observed holding what appeared to be a rifle while making inappropriate and insensitive remarks that were threatening in nature,” Captain Tim Robinson said in a statement. “Sheriff’s Office personnel immediately launched an investigation and positively identified the student in the video, who is a juvenile. During that investigation, deputies recovered the rifle that was brandished and determined it to be a pellet rifle. That pellet rifle has been seized as part of the investigation.”

As a result of the investigation, the student involved in the video will not be at the school for what remains of the school year.

Police did not reveal the specific statements or possible threats made in the video.
