NEWARK. NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara reported a carjacking that took place at around 5:20 pm on Saturday and now he is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect.
“Just before 5:20 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue on a call of a carjacking. The suspect exited a white Honda HRV with dark tinted windows, sunroof, rear plate cover, and a distinct yellow dealership advertisement on the front plate,” O’Hara said. “The victim’s carjacked vehicle is described as a 2017 black Dodge Durango with dark tinted rear window and sunroof. Both vehicles fled
eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue towards Summer Avenue.”
Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect as part of their investigation.
According to police, the suspect is described as Hispanic, approximately 6-ft. tall with a medium build and full beard. He was wearing a blue hooded jacket, a black face mask rolled on the top of his head, light-colored jeans, and white and red Retro Jordan 6’s (Carmine) sneakers.
