PATERSON, NJ – Police in Paterson have reported the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl Wednesday night. She becomes the third child victim of gunfire in a city that has seen a dramatic increase in violent gun crime over the past two years.
The shooting happens at around 10:20 p.m. in the area of Essex Street and Madison Street as she was exiting a bodega. Gunshots rang out and four men inside the building were also shot, but are recovering from their injuries.
Police said she was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.
