LYNN HAVEN, FL – The Lynn Haven Police Department has arrested three local teens in connection with a disturbance outside Mowat Middle School and a string of burglaries.
Officers of the Lynn Haven Police Department responded to the Winn Dixie Plaza in reference to a disturbance that occurred on the sidewalk of Mowat Middle School. During the disturbance, a firearm was displayed. The teens were located inside of the McDonald’s on Hwy 77 in Lynn Haven and taken into custody.
In the teens’ possession were two handguns that were stolen during recent burglaries of unlocked vehicles and one residence. These burglaries occurred in the Northshore area of Lynn Haven and were being investigated in cooperation with the Panama City Police Department.
The persons arrested are as follows:
Jailyn King, 15 years of age, is charged with armed burglary, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm at a school.
Asia Falvo, 13 years of age, is charged with carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm at a school.
Albert Campbell,15 years of age, is charged with armed burglary, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm at a school, exhibition of a firearm at a school and armed trespassing on school property.
All three teens were turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
Chief Ricky Ramie is upset knowing this dangerous situation could have been avoided if citizens would simply lock their doors of their vehicles and residences. F.S.S. 790.174; Governs the Safe Storage of Firearms. Chief Ramie feels that new legislation needs to be looked into regarding this law and should also make gun owners accountable when leaving loaded firearms in unlocked vehicles. Over the past couple of years, the Lynn Haven Police Department have worked almost a dozen vehicle burglaries where vehicles were left unlocked and firearms were stolen throughout the city.
Chief Ramie would like to reiterate that this situation could’ve ended a lot worse in the midst of what’s happening in our nation today. There were two loaded handguns on a middle school campus and this could have been prevented if citizens locked their doors!
Investigators expect to make more arrests in these cases in the next few days.
