Thieves tried to sell stolen trailer to deputies

PUTNAM CO., FL – On Nov. 20, the victim reported a flat bed trailer stolen from a building on West River Road. The thieves also attempted to break into a residence on the property and tried to steal and enclosed trailer.

The next day the victim notified deputies after she found the trailer listed on a social media group. Deputies during a controlled call contacted Heaven Dawson, 19, who listed the trailer for sale and arranged a time to meet for the purchase of the trailer. Deputies met with Dawson and John Parker, 32, at a residence on Mink Drive in Palatka. Dawson told deputies she was selling the trailer for Ray Wilkinson, 45. Dawson told deputies Wilkinson wanted at least $1,000 for the trailer and that he was going to give her some of the money.

After the controlled buy was conducted, deputies identified several people on the property and interviewed them to determine involvement. Everyone on the property told deputies Wilkinson brought the trailer to the residence on Nov. 20.

Dawson and Parker were arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property. They were taken to the Putnam County Jail. Dawson was held on $2,500 bond and Parker was held on $5,000 bond. Wilkinson was arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property, criminal mischief, petit theft, grand theft of a motor vehicle. He was taken to the Putnam County Jail and held on $16,000 bond.

During their investigation, deputies also interviewed Justin Lyons, 19, who was on probation for possession of a controlled substance with a condition of consent to search. Lyons removed a plastic bag with methamphetamine inside and was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and violation of probation. He was taken to the Putnam County Jail without bond.

Another person at the residence was Cody Smith, 20, who was arrested and on a warrant for violation of probation. He was taken to the Putnam County Jail without bond.
