LUDOWICI, GA – A couple posing as Mr. and Mrs. Claus at an event last week hosted by the Long County Chamber of Commerce in Ludowici, Georgia tested positive for COVID-19 just two days after that event where 50 children attended.   The event was an annual Christmas tree parade and tree lighting ceremony.  Now, Long County officials are recommending that the families present follow CDC guidelines and quarantine for 14 days.

The couple did wear masks while the children posed with them for photos, but many of the children did not.

Robert D. Parker, chairman of the Long County board of commissioners said children did not sit on Santa’s lap during the event.  He said the couple who developed symptoms on Saturday and got tested. Those tests came back positive.   Parker said he has been receiving hate mail from across the country since the announcement.
