Two Teenagers Arrested for Shooting 9-Year-Old Girl in Atlantic City
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit charged two teenagers in the shooting of a 9-year-old girl in September. On September 3, 2020, at 10:22 pm, patrol officers responded to the 500 block of Indiana Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert. Officers arrived to find that multiple gunshots had been fired into an occupied residence. A 9-year-old girl was shot in the foot. The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division for treatment.
An investigation conducted by detectives resulted in two teenage suspects being identified and charged. One male suspect was already in custody at Harborfields Detention Facility charged in separate shooting incident. The other suspect was arrested on October 24 by Officers Melvin Murray III and Michael Gunsser in the 1700 block of Arctic Avenue. The male was found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.
ARRESTED: A 17-year-old male from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
ARRESTED: A 17-year-old male from Vineland, NJ.
CHARGES: Aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and conspiracy.
 Both males were remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
