Hit and run horror kills biker as child fights for life in Charles County

Biker killed in violent crash as suspect runs from scene

Bryans Road, MD – A motorcycle ride turned deadly Sunday night when a car entered oncoming traffic, triggering a crash that killed a 32-year-old man and left a young girl hospitalized as the driver responsible fled the scene.

Harry Washington III, 32, of Indian Head, was identified as the motorcyclist killed in the crash, according to Maryland State Police. He was operating a Suzuki motorcycle at the time of the collision.

A 9-year-old girl believed to be his daughter was riding as a passenger. Both were flown by medical helicopter to area hospitals, where Washington was later pronounced dead. The condition of the child has not been released.

The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. on Maryland Route 210 at Jenkins Lane in Bryans Road. Preliminary findings indicate an orange 2013 Dodge Dart entered the southbound lanes and into the path of the motorcycle.

After the collision, both the driver and a passenger inside the Dodge Dart fled on foot. Authorities said the passenger later returned to the scene seeking medical attention and was identified as Jose Osmin Orellana Santamaria, 43, of White Plains. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The driver remains at large, and investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the individual.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation. Multiple lanes along Route 210 were closed for nearly three hours as crews processed the scene.
