STAMFORD, CONN. — Two Stamford men were arrested Thursday after a firearms investigation by local police led to the recovery of two loaded handguns and ammunition, authorities said.
Roland Newton, 37, and Lance Rhodes, 37, were taken into custody by the Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit on April 24 following an operation near 88 Pequot Drive. Both suspects are facing multiple firearms-related charges and are being held on $250,000 bond each.

Loaded handguns recovered after suspects attempt to flee
Police said detectives conducting the investigation located the suspects’ vehicle behind a residence on Pequot Drive. Newton attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by officers, who found him carrying a loaded tan Glock 43X 9mm handgun.
Rhodes also tried to distance himself from the area, according to police. A loaded black Glock 26 9mm was discovered nearby, believed to have been discarded by Rhodes during the attempt to evade authorities.
Vehicle search uncovers ammunition, firearm accessories
A subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicle led to the recovery of additional ammunition and a Glock firearm case associated with the weapon linked to Rhodes. Both men were charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, and illegal transfer of a firearm.
Newton was additionally charged with interfering with police due to his attempt to flee.
Suspects held on high bond, court date set for early May
Newton and Rhodes are being held on $250,000 bond each. Both are scheduled to appear in court on May 7, 2025. The Stamford Police Department has not released further details on the origin of the seized firearms or the nature of the investigation.
The case remains under investigation by the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit.
