NEWARK, N.J. — Newark police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman caught on a Ring doorbell camera stealing a package from a home on Norwood Street earlier this week.
According to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the theft occurred on Monday, April 21, at around 10:42 a.m., just minutes after the victim received a delivery notification for a package containing perfume.

Suspect fled southbound after theft
The surveillance footage shows the woman picking up the package from the front steps of the home and placing it into a bag before fleeing southbound on Norwood Street.
Detectives describe the suspect as an African American woman of small build. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red lettering, a black jacket, gray sweatpants, and white sandals.
Investigators release details to aid identification
Newark police continue to investigate the theft and are encouraging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact the Department of Public Safety.
Authorities have not released the footage publicly but may do so as part of the ongoing effort to identify the suspect.
