Improper pass triggers multi-car crash
As the Altima moved into the oncoming traffic lane to pass the Elantra, its passenger side struck the Elantra’s driver side. The impact caused the Nissan to lose control, crossing into the eastbound lane and striking a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox head-on. The Equinox had been traveling eastbound on Berlin Crosskeys Road.
The force of the collision rotated the Altima, which was then struck again by a 2025 Mazda C30 that had been traveling behind the Equinox. The Altima came to rest 47 feet from its secondary point of impact.
Vehicles displaced by force of impact
The initial and secondary collisions caused the Chevrolet Equinox to rotate and travel 19 feet before stopping in the eastbound shoulder and adjacent grass area.
Emergency response agencies from Williamstown, Gloucester County EMS, and multiple township police departments responded to the scene, along with Inspira paramedics and towing crews. The investigation was conducted by Officer John Van Leer and approved by Deputy Chief Mark Burton.
Authorities continue investigation into fatal collision
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased or the number of injured individuals. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities reconstruct the events and assess potential charges or contributing factors.
