GEORGETOWN, DEL. — Two men were injured early Monday morning after confronting a suspect who was reportedly breaking into vehicles in a Georgetown neighborhood, according to the Delaware State Police.

At approximately 4:56 a.m., troopers responded to the 27000 block of Paradise Street following a report of an assault. Investigators said an unidentified male was seen entering unlocked vehicles when he was confronted by three local residents.

During the encounter, the suspect allegedly attacked two of the residents with a broken bottle before fleeing the scene in a white van. One of the victims, a 39-year-old man, was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim, 34, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

Police say the suspect is described as a Hispanic male, around 5-foot-10, last seen wearing dark clothing and white Nike sneakers. He fled the area eastbound on Homestead Road in an unknown white Chevrolet van.

Suspect fled after altercation with residents

The victims had reportedly attempted to restrain the suspect before he escaped. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are working to obtain surveillance footage from the area.
