Man charged with second-degree murder after body found in Macon County

MACON COUNTY, NC — A 53-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder and concealment of a death following the discovery of a body in Macon County on Saturday.

Deputies from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible homicide on April 19. Upon arrival, they found a scene consistent with the report and detained a suspect on-site.

Detectives were called to investigate, and shortly after their arrival, the body of the deceased individual was located. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) was requested to assist with processing the crime scene.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Allen Laws, was arrested and charged with violating North Carolina General Statutes 14-17 (Second Degree Murder) and 14-410.22(e) (Concealment of a Death), according to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials have stated that the name of the deceased is being withheld in order to respect the privacy of the family.
