PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — A man found dead during a welfare check in a Riverdale apartment building stairwell on Friday has been identified as 58-year-old Adeyemi Martin of New Carrollton, according to Prince George’s County Police.

Welfare check leads to homicide investigation

Just after 10 a.m. on April 11, officers responded to the 6600 block of Riverdale Road after receiving a report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located Martin’s body in a stairwell, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives seek answers in deadly shooting

Homicide detectives are actively working to determine what led to the fatal shooting and are seeking a motive. No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made as of Monday.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
