Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A late-night rideshare trip in Southeast took a dangerous turn when a driver’s vehicle was struck by gunfire after a scheduled pickup went awry.

Shots fired after missed return ride

The incident unfolded shortly after midnight when a rideshare driver transported two individuals to their destination on 10th Place, Southeast. The agreement was for a round trip, but after the passengers failed to return at the agreed time, the driver left the scene.

As the driver was leaving, one of the passengers reportedly appeared and opened fire with a handgun, striking the vehicle. The driver was not injured, but the vehicle sustained damage.

Suspect arrested following investigation

Investigators identified the alleged shooter as 18-year-old Daveon Hebb of Fort Washington, Maryland. A warrant was issued by the DC Superior Court, leading to Hebb’s arrest.

He has been charged with Assault With A Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Destruction of Property in connection with the shooting.

No injuries reported in targeted rideshare shooting

Despite the gunfire, the rideshare driver escaped unharmed. Authorities have not indicated whether the second passenger was involved or if additional charges are expected.
