WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 25-year-old woman was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in Southeast D.C., prompting an on-scene arrest in what investigators determined to be a domestic-related homicide.

Officers find woman fatally wounded on 6th Street SE
Seventh District officers responded to a call for a shooting at approximately 2:25 p.m. in the 3500 block of 6th Street, Southeast. When they arrived, they found an adult female unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The decedent was later identified as Taeje Butler of Southeast, D.C.
Suspect taken into custody without incident
The suspect, 25-year-old Josiah Garrison, was arrested on the scene by responding officers. Following an investigation by detectives, Garrison was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed. Authorities confirmed that the fatal shooting was domestic in nature.
