STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is searching for a suspect who allegedly scammed a 74-year-old man out of nearly $30,000 in a broad-daylight grand larceny incident in the 123rd Precinct earlier this month.

Elderly victim targeted in high-value fraud

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, in front of 262 Arden Avenue. The elderly victim was led to believe he needed to pay nearly $30,000 in cash to resolve what was described as fraudulent activity.

The victim complied, handing over $29,685 to the individual, who then fled the scene to an unknown location.

Surveillance images released
