WASHINGTON, D.C. A 22-year-old man died after being shot late Friday night in Northwest Washington, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fourth District officers responded to the 700 block of Otis Place NW after receiving a report of gunfire around 10:41 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they found an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

DC Fire and EMS units transported the man to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite efforts to save him, authorities confirmed the victim died on Saturday.

Victim identified as D.C. resident

The victim was identified as Kalyl Young, 22, of Northwest D.C., police said in a statement. No information regarding suspects or motive has been released.

The case remains under active investigation by homicide detectives. Officers canvassed the area for witnesses and potential surveillance footage from nearby residences and businesses.

$25K reward offered in homicide case

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible.
