Fatal crash fugitive caught! ICE arrests Mexican national linked to 2014 death of Texas teen

DALLAS, TEXAS — A Mexican national involved in a 2014 vehicle crash that killed a 13-year-old girl was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on March 26, following years of evading a final order of deportation.

Ramiro Guevara, 46, was taken into custody by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations in Dallas. Authorities say Guevara was in the United States illegally and had been wanted for removal after his 2017 deportation order became final.

Though Guevara was never charged in the death of the minor and did not serve jail time, he was wanted at the time of the crash for driving without a license. The fatal incident raised concerns about his continued presence in the country despite previous immigration violations.

“The arrest and pending removal of this individual serves as a stark reminder that criminal aliens who threaten the public safety of our communities will be found and face justice for their actions,” said HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard.

Guevara filed a petition on March 10, 2016, seeking relief from removal, which was denied by an immigration judge on July 28, 2017. He was officially ordered removed from the United States on August 23, 2017, and given 30 days to file an appeal — a deadline he failed to meet.

At the time of his arrest, Guevara had been classified under an outstanding order of deportation for being present in the United States without admission or parole.

ICE confirmed Guevara will remain in agency custody pending further removal proceedings.
