CLINTON, NJ — ShopRite of Clinton has issued a voluntary recall of its store-made tuna macaroni salad after discovering it was mislabeled as regular macaroni salad, potentially exposing customers to an undeclared tuna allergen.
The recall applies only to products sold on March 27 in 8- and 16-ounce packages with PLU code 20599 and UPC code 0022059900000. All affected packages have a sell-by date of April 1. No illnesses or allergic reactions related to the mislabeled product have been reported.
“This is an isolated incident and affects only the ShopRite of Clinton,” the company said, noting that no other products at the store or other ShopRite locations are involved in the recall.
ShopRite spokesperson Maureen Gillespie stated, “Customers who purchased any of the recalled items at the ShopRite of Clinton can return them for an immediate refund or replacement.”
To assist with the recall process, ShopRite contacted most customers who bought the product using their Price Plus® club cards. The store is urging anyone with the product at home to check labels and return affected containers.
The company emphasized that the recall was issued out of caution and that corrective actions have been taken to prevent future mislabeling incidents.
