WASHINGTON, D.C. — A high-speed collision involving an ATV and two police officers on U Street sent both officers to the hospital and triggered a citywide search for the fleeing suspect.
The incident unfolded around 8:13 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the 1400 block of U Street, Northwest. As officers attempted to engage an individual riding an ATV illegally on public space, the operator accelerated and struck both officers before escaping.
The ATV operator left the scene immediately after the collision. Surveillance footage captured images of the suspect and the vehicle. Authorities released both video and photographic evidence in an effort to gather public leads.
One officer suffered serious injuries but has since been discharged along with the second officer. The identities of the injured officers have not been released.
