SILVER SPRING, MD — A retired federal office manager and former sport fisherman reeled in a $30,036 Mega Millions prize after purchasing a Quick Pick ticket with the Megaplier option.
The Montgomery County resident, who plays Mega Millions only when the jackpot climbs, bought his ticket at Wheaton Winery, located at 2211 University Blvd. He spent $15 on five Quick Pick lines for the March 7 drawing and later discovered he had won.
Matching four white balls and the Mega Ball secured him a $10,000 third-tier prize, but with a Megaplier of X3, his winnings jumped to $30,000. Additional smaller prizes brought his total to $30,036.
This isn’t his first big win—about six years ago, he claimed a sizable prize from multiple Pick 4 tickets. He plans to save his latest winnings.
