Man arrested after violent carjacking in Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Pa. — A man has been arrested following a carjacking that left a delivery driver injured in Homestead.

At approximately 8:25 p.m. on March 16, Homestead Police responded to the intersection of Hays Street and W. Pine Way, where a man reported he had been assaulted and his vehicle stolen. The victim was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit determined that the victim had just finished a delivery when an unknown male approached and asked for money. When the victim refused, the suspect assaulted him and stole his vehicle.

At 10:43 a.m. on March 17, detectives spotted the stolen vehicle at W. 11th Street and Sarah Street. A man matching the suspect’s description was seen exiting the vehicle and was quickly arrested.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Trevon Jones of Homestead, faces multiple charges, including robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, simple assault, and theft by unlawful taking. He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail pending arraignment.
