BAY SHORE, N.Y. — A fully functioning illegal dental office was discovered inside a Bay Shore home, leading to the arrest of a woman accused of practicing dentistry without a license, police said.
Yolany Y. Mejia Carranza, 55, was taken into custody Wednesday after authorities executed a search warrant at 1847 Heckscher Ave. Detectives said she had been performing unauthorized dental procedures at the residence.
Investigators believe Mejia Carranza previously operated a similar unlicensed practice at 135 Broadway in Huntington Station. Police are now searching for additional victims who may have received treatment from her.
Mejia Carranza has been charged with three counts of Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a Class E felony.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been treated by Mejia Carranza to come forward as the investigation continues.
