Asbury Park School District Declares Itself a “Safe Space” from Trump Policies

ASBURY PARK, N.J. — The Asbury Park Board of Education has introduced a resolution dec laring itself a safe space from the administration and policies of U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

The district affirmed its commitment to protecting students from discrimination and ensuring equal access to education regardless of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, immigration status, or other characteristics.

The resolution acknowledges recent federal executive orders that may negatively impact district students. It reinforces the board’s responsibility to create a safe and inclusive educational environment.

The measure also recognizes that students come from diverse backgrounds and that any policies undermining their rights could be harmful. It affirms the district’s role in safeguarding its students against discrimination.
