TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Senator Andy Kim and his party didn’t clap for a little boy with cancer who was deputized a police officer by the President of the United States. They also didn’t clap for protecting women from being raped and murdered by criminal illegal aliens.
Kim and his cohorts didn’t clap for securing the U.S. border with Mexico, police officers, or the naming of a national park in honor of a victim of extreme violence.
They didn’t clap for anything but Ukraine.
Senator Kim wants you to believe he’s a paragon of virtue, a man who once stayed up late as a kid, wide-eyed, watching State of the Union speeches, dreaming of a noble America.
In a post on X, he lamented that he never imagined he’d one day sit in Congress and hear a president “talk about surrendering to Russia” and “brag about raising prices on families through tariffs.”
He called it a “stain on the history of our nation.” Strong words. But let’s get one thing straight: the event he’s clutching his pearls over wasn’t even the State of the Union. It was a different address entirely. So much for that childhood reverence for accuracy.
What’s more telling, though, isn’t what Senator Kim said—it’s what he didn’t do.
During that same speech, a young boy with cancer was honored, a moment that should transcend politics. The chamber erupted in applause.
Well, most of it did. Kim and most of his Democratic colleagues sat stone-faced, hands in their laps. Apparently, clapping for a kid fighting for his life is too much to ask when it’s Donald Trump at the podium.
Who’s a stain now?
This isn’t an isolated incident. Kim and his party also refused to applaud when Trump touted policies that most Americans—outside the elite bubble—actually support.
Putting murderous criminal illegal aliens behind bars? Silence. Keeping men out of women’s sports to protect fairness? Crickets. Supporting our police, who risk their lives daily? Nada. Securing the border to stem chaos? Not a peep.
These aren’t fringe ideas; they’re common-sense priorities for millions. Yet Kim and his ilk couldn’t muster a shred of bipartisan goodwill. Instead, they sulked, more committed to their Trump Derangement Syndrome than to the people they claim to represent.
Let’s talk about that “surrendering to Russia” line. Trump’s no dove—he’s pushed NATO allies to pay their fair share and kept Putin in check with sanctions and strength. And tariffs? They’re a tool to level the playing field for American workers, not a tax on families’ grocery bills. Kim knows this, or he should. But nuance doesn’t fit the narrative when you’re posturing for the progressive base.
The real stain on our nation’s history isn’t Trump’s words—it’s the sanctimonious grandstanding of politicians like Kim, who’d rather score cheap political points than honor a sick child or back policies that protect the country.
If he’s going to call someone a stain, he might want to look in the mirror.
