NEWARK, Del. — A Kansas man was arrested Friday afternoon in Delaware after police say he was caught removing metal from a Newark business without permission.
Delaware State Police responded to Reybold Homes at 2350 Pulaski Highway around 1 p.m. and observed an unknown man on the roof, throwing pieces of metal to the ground near his vehicle.
When troopers made contact with property management, they confirmed that no one had authorization to be on the premises. The suspect later exited the building and initially provided a false name before being identified as 65-year-old Michael Paulino of Gardner, Kansas, through a computer search and a Kansas ID card.
Police found Paulino in possession of a crowbar and metal clippers, which they say were used to remove metal from the building. A background check also revealed he had two active capiases.
Paulino was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with multiple offenses.
