WASHINGTON, D.C. — Progressive Democrats are calling for a significant tax increase on corporations and the wealthy, citing historical rates during World War II as a model.

The increased tax rate call comes as Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency are finding billions of dollars in wasteful spending under former Democrat President Joe Biden.

Justice Democrats highlighted the contrast between past and present tax rates, stating, “During WW2, the corporate tax rate was 53% and the wealthiest Americans were taxed at 94%.” They criticized the tax cuts enacted under former President Donald Trump in 2017, which lowered the corporate tax rate to 21% and set the top individual tax rate at 37%.

New Jersey state senators Andy Kim and Cory Booker have aligned themselves closely with he far-left Justice Democrats on Capitol Hill. New Jersey Democrat Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill has on occasion also aligned herself with the Justice Democrats.

Although the Justice Democrats called for wartime tax levels, they say they also want to defund the U.S. military.

The post also noted the size of the current U.S. military budget, saying, “Also, without fighting a world war, the 2025 defense budget is ~$900 billion.”
