Fire displaces family in Stamford’s Turn of River neighborhood

STAMFORD, Conn. — A fire tore through a home on Loughran Avenue Friday evening, displacing three residents and causing extensive damage, officials said.

The Stamford Fire Department received a 911 call at 5:38 p.m. reporting the blaze at 79 Loughran Ave. Firefighters arrived within three minutes to find heavy flames venting from the front door of the 1½-story residence. Crews quickly stretched a hose line to battle the fire, which was concentrated in the living and dining room areas.

The fire was brought under control by 6:07 p.m. No injuries were reported, though two occupants were evaluated for smoke inhalation and released at the scene. A total of 30 firefighters from multiple units responded, along with Stamford EMS.

The home sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, and the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Division is investigating the cause of the fire.

The fast-moving blaze left a family without a home, as officials work to determine what sparked the flames.
