HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 64-year-old man was killed early Monday morning in a crash involving a trash and recycling truck on the Black Horse Pike, police said.
The Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the scene near milepost 48 at approximately 5:15 a.m. A preliminary investigation determined that William P. Hadley, of Egg Harbor Township, was driving a 2008 Lexus ES3 westbound when he struck the rear of a privately owned trash and recycling truck.
The truck was driven by Juan Taveras-Trinidad, a 40-year-old from Pleasantville, who was also traveling westbound. Hadley was pronounced dead at the scene. Taveras-Trinidad was not injured.
Traffic was diverted for several hours while police investigated. The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, Atlanticare Paramedics, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office assisted at the scene.
Authorities have not released further details as the investigation continues.
