LAKEWOOD, NJ — With a snowstorm expected to hit the area from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, the Lakewood Township Department of Public Works (DPW) is urging residents to remove parked vehicles and other obstructions from the roads to facilitate snow removal.
DPW officials emphasized that cars, bulk trash, and other items should be moved onto driveways, lawns, or other private property that will not be plowed. The Police and Code Enforcement Departments will not issue tickets or fines for vehicles parked on private property during snow-clearing operations.
Due to the Lincoln’s Birthday holiday on Wednesday, February 12, there will be no regular trash or recycling pickup. Wednesday’s collections will be moved to Thursday, and Thursday’s pickups will take place on Friday.
Lakewood Township has deployed both DPW crews and additional independent contractors to work around the clock clearing snow. Mayor Ray Coles said the town’s snow removal efforts have significantly improved in recent years, adding, “We thank residents for their continued cooperation throughout the process.”
Authorities stress that keeping roads clear is essential to ensuring an efficient and safe snow removal operation.
