TRENTON, N.J. — A winter storm is set to impact portions of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania this weekend, bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rain. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.
The storm is expected to bring 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet, along with up to a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation. The advisory covers Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, and Mercer counties in New Jersey, as well as several counties in Pennsylvania, including Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton, and Bucks.
Forecasters expect snow to begin by late afternoon Saturday, with precipitation intensifying into the evening. Overnight, snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain before transitioning to rain early Sunday morning.
Officials warn of hazardous travel conditions as roads may become slippery. The National Weather Service advises motorists to “slow down and use caution while traveling.”
By Sunday morning, precipitation is expected to taper off, with clearing skies and a high near 41 degrees. Winds will shift from the northwest, reaching 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
As temperatures drop to the low 20s Sunday night, any remaining moisture could refreeze, potentially causing additional travel concerns.
