SEVERN, Md. — A 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Severn on Monday night in what police believe was a targeted attack, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said.

Officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots near Severn Tree Boulevard and Sea Pine Circle at approximately 7:10 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Karon Makhai Cann, of Severn, lying on the ground in front of a home in the 1700 block of Sea Pine Circle with gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical aid before Cann was transported by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives and Evidence Collection Unit personnel processed the scene, recovering multiple pieces of evidence. Witnesses were interviewed, and authorities have determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation as officers work to determine a motive and identify any suspects.
