Fourth DUI Arrest for Stafford Man Caught Drinking Twisted Tea Behind the Wheel

STAFFORD, Va. — A 54-year-old Stafford man with a history of DUI offenses was arrested Thursday after a concerned citizen reported seeing him drinking Twisted Tea while driving and drifting in and out of consciousness.

The incident occurred around 1:07 p.m. in the 300 block of White Oak Road. Deputies responded quickly after receiving a report of a driver in a Honda consuming alcohol from a bright yellow can. Upon locating the vehicle, Deputy A.E. Epps observed the driver, identified as Wilver Bonilla, displaying clear signs of intoxication, including red, glassy eyes and the strong smell of alcohol.

A can of Twisted Tea was found in plain view in the car’s cup holder, along with an open box of Twisted Tea, empty cans, and bottles scattered inside the vehicle. When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Bonilla openly admitted there was “no point” as he would “fail” due to his level of intoxication.

Further investigation revealed Bonilla had three prior DUI convictions and was driving on a revoked license related to a previous DUI offense. He was charged with fourth offense DUI with a blood alcohol content above .2, along with driving while revoked.

Bonilla is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
