STAFFORD, N.J. — A Forked River man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly shoplifting from a Stafford supermarket 43 times over a two-month span, authorities said.

Stafford police took the 28-year-old suspect into custody at 10 p.m. on Jan. 9, according to a statement released last week.

Investigators say the man stole approximately $1,793 worth of merchandise from the ShopRite on Route 72 West in Manahawkin during multiple incidents.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River and is scheduled to appear in Ocean County Superior Court at a later date, police said.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation as the suspect awaits court proceedings. Police did not release the man’s name.
