BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — A Central Islip man was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop led police to uncover an illegal firearm manufacturing operation, authorities said.
Third Precinct Anti-Crime officers pulled over the driver of a 2020 Acura on Brentwood Road for an expired registration. During the stop, officers found the 23-year-old man in possession of a weapon and a large-capacity magazine.
A search of the man’s residence revealed two assault rifles with magazines, a 3D printer connected to a computer, 3D printer material, six ghost gun frames, and ammunition, police said.

The suspect is facing multiple charges, including weapons possession and manufacturing. Police did not immediately release his name.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, which highlights growing concerns over the use of 3D printers to produce untraceable firearms.
