Man shot in East Pittsburgh; investigation underway

DUQUESNE, Pa. — Allegheny County police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening in the Prospect Terrace Housing Complex in East Pittsburgh.

At 8:20 p.m., the county’s 911 center received reports of gunfire in the housing complex. When Housing Authority police arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting but did not locate any victims.

Shortly afterward, Duquesne police responded to a call on Viola Street, where a man had been shot in the chest. Authorities said the victim was conscious and alert when transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit have taken over the investigation. No information on potential suspects or a motive has been released at this time.
