TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey will endure bitterly cold weather for the next several days, with temperatures not expected to rise above freezing until Sunday, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service.
Wednesday’s high will reach only 21 degrees, with sunny skies and northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph keeping conditions brisk. Overnight, temperatures will drop to a low of 8 degrees under mostly clear skies, forecasters said.
Thursday offers a slight reprieve as temperatures climb closer to freezing, with a forecasted high of 32 degrees and partly sunny skies. However, Thursday night will bring another round of freezing temperatures, with a low of 14 degrees and light winds out of the west.
Friday and Saturday will remain cold, with highs near 32 and 31 degrees, respectively, and overnight lows dipping to 10 degrees on Friday night and 21 degrees on Saturday night. Both days are expected to see mostly sunny skies.
Relief from the cold is expected Sunday when temperatures may finally rise above freezing, reaching a high of around 40 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight temperatures, however, will drop back into the low 20s.
