BOSTON, Mass. — A Boston police officer was bitten by a pit bull during a drug raid in Dorchester early Saturday morning, resulting in the arrest of two men and the seizure of cocaine, a firearm, and other drug-related items.
The raid occurred on January 18, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., when officers from the E-13 (Jamaica Plain), B-3 (Mattapan), and Citywide Drug Control Units executed a search warrant at 16 Wildwood Street.
Police first observed 26-year-old Edwin German leaving the residence and conducted a traffic stop near Theodore Street and Morton Street. German was informed of the search warrants for him and his home. During this time, officers learned that multiple individuals and a pit bull described as “friendly” were inside the residence.
While executing the warrant, the pit bull attacked one of the officers, biting him. The officer managed to fend off the dog and retreat outside, where other officers applied a tourniquet to his injuries before Boston EMS transported him to a hospital. The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Animal Control later secured and removed the dog.
Inside the residence, police detained three additional individuals, including 33-year-old Alberis Cruz, and seized the following:
- A trafficking quantity of cocaine
- Scales, baggies, cutting agents, and other drug distribution materials
- A 9mm ghost gun with a magazine loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition
- An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency
Both men face charges and are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. German is charged with trafficking Class B drugs (cocaine), while Cruz is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
