Tuesday morning traffic report: Here's what's happening across New Jersey's roadways

NEWARK, N.J. — Commuters across New Jersey are facing multiple delays this morning as heavy traffic slows major highways and bridge crossings.

As of 8:25 a.m., westbound I-280 is experiencing delays from Exit 16E (Essex St) in Harrison to Exit 14E (King St) in Newark, with travel times between 5–10 minutes.

US 1 southbound has minor delays from north of Forrestal Road in Plainsboro Township to Harrison Street in West Windsor Township, with travel times under 5 minutes.

Southbound NJ 17 is seeing slowdowns from NJ 4 in Paramus to Passaic Street in Rochelle Park Township, also with travel times under 5 minutes.

NJ 4 eastbound traffic is delayed from Hackensack Avenue in Hackensack to Queen Anne Road in Teaneck Township, with estimated delays of 5–10 minutes.

On the New Jersey Turnpike northbound, the exit ramp from Interchange 15E to US 1&9 Truck in Newark remains open but is congested due to delays on US 1&9.

At the Lincoln Tunnel, both the center and south tunnels eastbound are experiencing 20-minute delays from the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 16E to the New York side.

NJ 21 southbound is backed up from north of Chester Avenue to I-280 in Newark, with travel times ranging from 10–15 minutes.

The George Washington Bridge is heavily congested. Eastbound traffic on the lower level is delayed 35 minutes from I-95 at I-80 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge. The upper level eastbound is experiencing even longer delays, with travel times up to 40 minutes along the same route.

Drivers are advised to expect significant delays and plan accordingly for their morning commute.
